Garden Railways

We are very pleased to have been asked by The Railway Channel to stock their DVD's in our shop. We currently have the following, with more to follow:
Two more DVD's are now in stock from The Railway Channel
Narrow Gauge In The Garden Volume Two

Programmes featured on The Railway Channel Annual Disc One include:

The Great Central Railway
An abridged version of the best selling DVD - the history is told here with some great action shots.
Duration 16mins 4secs

The Mid Norfolk Railway
Shown to great acclaim on The Railway Channel this programme features the brilliant music of the Saints of Silence and a collection of classic diesel haulage.
Duration 9mins 5secs

Epping Ongar Railway
A young 'un on the heritage scene this railway attracts interest because of its short length of five foot gauge line - and running on it is a lovely Finnish locomotive. Well worth seeing.
Duration 13mins 28secs

Beer Heights Light Railway
Immaculate in Miniature ought to be the slogan for this railway - this look at the line is abbreviated from the full length production being made available next year on Miniature Pleasures Volume 3.
Duration 10mins 22secs

Zermatt to Gornergraat
The old Ian Allan Locospotters' Annuals always had a bit of continental interest so we felt we had to do the same! This film has been gathering dust ever since Mark Found shot it whilst on a break filming with Davina McCall in this lovely Swiss mountain resort (she's not in this film though!).
Duration 14mins 41secs

The Mid Derbyshire Light Railway
16mm live steam is featured on this line and the history told from the vivd imagination of Brian Dominic. Certainly charming this film oozes character.
Duration 11mins 59secs

Paul's Gauge One Railway
Paul hasn't named his railway - but, by golly, has he spent his time making it look fantastic? All we did was turn up and film it on an open day - and the results? Probably worth the annual on its own.
Duration 13mins 06secs

Programmes featured on The Railway Channel Annual Disc Two include:

The Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway
Only two programmes on Disc Two? Both could probably merit a whole DVD of their own to be honest. This programme is a complete footplate ride along the whole length of the line from Welshpool to, well, Llanfair. Some steep gradients, particularly on the early section make for some great sounds.
Duration 46mins 20 secs

Keighley MRC
A great clubhouse in which to look, in depth, at four great layouts - "Runswick Bay", "Airesworth", "Eidiger Eller" and "Ravensbeck". Superb production that will delight you. Promise.
Duration 39mins 28secs

Narrow Gauge In The Garden Volume One Our Price: £16.99

Ian is determined to accomplish a high degree of realism on his garden railway and to learn more he visits some superb railways, goes on a tour of Roundhouse Engineering and discovers the secrets of scratch building coaches.

Programme One - Small Gardens
Ian visits the delightful Pimlico Tramway to discover that lack of space is no deterrent to the railway builder and we see his own Lower Bryandale Railway

Programme Two - Large Gardens
Sounds perfect but beware - size is important, especially if the knees are beginning to go!

Programme Three - Awkward Gardens
A steeply sloping garden shouldn’t be perceived as a reason to neglect realism - and Ian visits Neil Ramsay to find out how to overcome the problems.

Programme Four - Layouts
Ian believes that an end to end layout is the only realistic way to build a railway - but the Dean Valley Railway numbers an end to end as only one of its layouts.

Programme Five - Manufacturers
Steam is the only realistic approach for Ian but he doesn’t feel expert enough to build his own locomotive - yet! A fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of Roundhouse Engineering is the result.

Programme Six - Scratch Building
Neil Ramsay shows Ian how to progress to higher levels of realism when producing rolling stock from the Lower Bryandale’s own workshops.

TRC Hidden Treasures Volume One Our Price: £16.99

10 Great Garden railways On One Disc! The Railway Channel loves garden railways and it really shows in this superb collection of professionally shot film. The ten railways featured in the first series are brought together on one disc and it makes for over an hour and a half of essential viewing for any garden railway fan.

The ten featured railways are:

Peverels Orchard Railway - 5 and 71/4" The culmination of a lifetime’s ambition, Adrian and Carol Munns have created a mixed gauge railway that’s extensive - to say the least!

Green Valley Railway - O Gauge A full size signalbox and modern day barrier gates are just two of the features on this O gauge railway in a packed suburban back garden

Richard Everrett’s Double Fairlie - 5" A wonderful 5" railway somewhat overshadowed by the main locomotive of the fleet!

Maesffordd and Nant Gorris Railway - 16mm Welsh narrow gauge in East Anglia with double heading Garretts and attractive lineside features

Mainline Thurnby - G Scale Trevor Goodman’s superb running track gave us the oportunity to run prototypical long trains set to some great music

The West Wickham Ride On Railway - 5" Mike Keytes proves that there are no barriers to building your own outdoor railway - even if it’s a lack of garden!

The Southwold Railway - 16mm Stephen Bazire’s fabulous recreation of this much loved 3ft gauge railway on the Suffolk coast. Stephen also provides the music and archive film!

Cascades - G Scale Bob Soundy has holidayed on the west coast of America - and now there’s a piece of it around his back garden.

Birchley - 10_" This railway will surely be envied by many - set in beautiful surroundings, with a girder bridge, long tunnel and testing gradients.

South Arbury Railway - 16mm Chris Moody has over four scale miles of running track in his garden and we filmed on Garrett Sunday. Some spectacular shots of these fine locomotives provide us with a stunning conclusion to this DVD.
